The new guy crushed it. His writing style is was meant for Rapp. The story telling made it hard to put down. I think this has been the best Vince Flynn book since Vince Flynn. Hoping Bentley comes back for more!
More rap than Rapp

Good premise and prequel like touches on established characters, but the many mid-dialogue digressions into characters’ thoughts and background details slow down the narrative rather than move it forward.

As usual, Mitch Rapp and all are brought into our lives with incredible skill and foresight. Well done.
NOT FOR ME

I have read all the Mitch Rapp series. This one falls short. Diarrhea of words and descriptions. Not enough character dialog and action. Try harder to achieve reader interest for those of us who devour these books.

I got to airport story and gave up. This book destroyed my image of Mitch Rapp.
As always good stuff

This book read like I was reading Vince Flynn. Can’t wait until the next Mitch Rapp story.

Admiration and respect for Vince! This one had less action and much more description and development. I might have glossed over 50 pages of in depth descriptions on city history, character personality, organization protocol which I love! It wasn’t balanced with equal parts of action.

It was difficult to get into the book since it seemed to start at the beginning of Rapp’s career that i thought I had already been read. The book was well written and enjoyable, just missing something.
Another dud

Too many moving parts, was getting close to the end of the book and thought “That’s it?”. I know a lot of the other plots are hard to believe but this one takes the prize.
Absolutely great book

I think you hit a home run with the new author, not Vince Flynn, but the closest I have seen since he authored the series. However, you need to think outside the box and allow new authors to show the next phase for Mitch Rapp. You probably have al least two maybe three books to fill the time line, along with ready made move script to follow-up American Assassin. However, in order for Mitch and Vince’s legacy to continue for another decade, +, you need to understand Mitch is at the end of his operational capacity and turning into Hurley. You need the new version of Mitch to come in and set the two against each other, just as Hurley and Mitch did in the beginning. Think outside the box and open the doors for new authors to get a shot instead of closed door invitations or someone else will pickup the demand.
Not much wrath of Rapp. Too many loose threads…

that had little to do with moving the plot forward. Many threads stayed loose.

The story jumped around too much instead of sticking to a smooth story! Too many different situations to come together!

I’ve read every Rapp book and this was by far the worst. Very slow and seemed like the writer just kept adding words and adjectives to take up space. Hopefully they don’t continue this way.
Read It!!!

Don Bentley has mastered Vince Flynn's storytelling style, delivering an amazing read. This installment, which marks the third book in the timeline, follows a young Mitch Rapp on a mission of revenge after his girlfriend, Greta, is put in danger. Meanwhile, the CIA is facing funding troubles, with elected officials exerting pressure and the current leader, Thomas Stansfield, potentially facing removal as Director. Irene Kennedy is working to rectify the situation in Moscow, while Stan Hurley is operating in his signature manner. This book is a gripping thrill ride that is sure to captivate readers and leave a lasting impression.

I’ve read every Vince Flynn book including the ones written after he passed away. This book isn’t even close to the quality of the others. Fragmented disjointed story. Poor plot. Wasted my money on this dud.
Poorly executed, disappointing

This is a bad facsimile of a Mitch Rapp book. The whole thing is boring and feels like one long run-on sentence.

I enjoyed this prequel to the Mitch Rapp universe. I particularly liked the tie in of aftermath of WWII to the Cold War.
