I felt like I wasted a lot of time reading this book. I got caught up in the story but it just went on and on like it was never going to end. Then, when it did I was left feeling frustrated and angry at having reached an end that wasn’t one. Unless you’re going to slog thru the 2 that come after I wouldn’t bother.

I started a little slow, but once you get past the first couple of chapters it pulls you in and you can’t stop reading. Go ahead and buy the second book also because the first one ends mid story and picks right up in the second.

I Loved this book so much that within the first couple pages I bought it. I couldn’t put this book down and stayed up to the wee hours of the night reading it. I finished reading it in a day and half. It nailed all the things I love murder, mystery, love, romance, drama, paranormal and everything else in between. Keep the wonderful stories coming Nora ♥️

The concept is interesting but the story drags and drags and drags with no substance, progress or excitement for too long. I really wanted to enjoy this but it’s become too boring to continue. The pace is way too slow and not enough happens to keep you hooked.

I love Nora’s books, but I hate to be swept away only to have the magic carpet pulled out from under my feet st the end. A little more closure snd a little less cliffhanger…please!!!! It could be a while before I get the next book in the series!!!!

A gothic mansion on the coast in Maine with a haunted background… sign me up! I loved the premise and story line of this book. However, i wish the main character Sonya was less of a whiner and more open minded to the supernatural around her.

As usual Nora Roberts knocks it out of the park.
The dialogue, characters and plot are excellent. Not an ending in this the first of the Trilogy, but an extreme urge to read the next in the series.

I am enjoying the book but confused about a couple of things. Why is Sonya looking for similarities in appearance to her father between family members when he was adopted? Why does the author write about twins “ running” in the family when genetically twins are decided on the mothers side only, it takes two eggs to make a twin, fertilization has nothing to do with it. I don’t understand the repeated reference to her genealogy from her fathers side if he was adopted. Am I missing something?

The overall read was good, it seemed to lag… repetitive in the actions of the manor which seems ok but the ending left me hanging…. Waiting for the 2nd of the 3rd to be ready in November.

Good read but like so many others I’m extremely disappointed in the extremely long wait for book 2. If I’d had any idea it was another of her trilogys I would have just waited to read it at least until book 2 came out but since she hasn’t written any trilogys in the past few years I assumed it was stand alone. Nora you are one of my very favorite authors and I’ve literally read every book you’ve written, some multiple times. I’m disappointed in you and you should be ashamed of yourself.

I really enjoyed this book and was surprised that the two other books in this trilogy haven’t been released yet. But I can wait. Ha!
I kind of figured, by midway in the book, that the mystery wouldn’t be solved in this book. There’s a lot of side-story, which is OK, though the dialogue is a bit too saccharin to be realistic, but it’s not too corny.
I’d like to see better vocabulary, the correct words used in expressions, and correct use of prepositions and punctuation. Where are the editors? I find myself making mental corrections as I read.
Overall, I like the plot, and like that I haven’t figured it out yet.
Looking forward to the next book!

I was disappointed that it ended where it did. They do not solve the mystery. They do not break the curse. They do not resolve any issues with the haunting. They do drink a LOT of wine. And they get a lot of day to day chit chat and letting dogs out to go poo every day, and ho hum work done for other people’s websites every single day. Pretty bland.
