Description

INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The world’s most celebrated thriller writer and author of The Da Vinci Code returns with his most stunning novel yet—a propulsive, twisty, thought-provoking masterpiece that will entertain readers as only Dan Brown can do.

Robert Langdon, esteemed professor of symbology, travels to Prague to attend a groundbreaking lecture by Katherine Solomon—a prominent noetic scientist with whom he has recently begun a relationship. Katherine is on the verge of publishing an explosive book that contains startling discoveries about the nature of human consciousness and threatens to disrupt centuries of established belief. But a brutal murder catapults the trip into chaos, and Katherine suddenly disappears along with her manuscript. Langdon finds himself targeted by a powerful organization and hunted by a chilling assailant sprung from Prague’s most ancient mythology. As the plot expands into London and New York, Langdon desperately searches for Katherine . . . and for answers. In a thrilling race through the dual worlds of futuristic science and mystical lore, he uncovers a shocking truth about a secret project that will forever change the way we think about the human mind.

Found the story line a bit much to swallow. Brown has done better.
A fun read!

I very much enjoyed the story and how it pushed/dragged me through it. At times I felt that there was too much extraneous information dropped into a very exciting story. But as I continued reading I began to realize how important it was to understanding what the author was telling the reader. There are things going on in the world that we have no idea of.
The main character, Robert Landon, kept me intrigued with his resolving of the puzzles along the way. It is always fun to have ‘Tom Hanks’ along in my minds eye while reading!

Once again Dan Brown delivers an exceptional adventure fraught with intricate questions which we all seek answers to . Bravo !
Pulled into a world I didn’t want to leave.

The premise, the science, the history all equaled another deep, thrilling, Dan Brown adventure that blew my mind. No one writes fact and fiction like him. It’s storytelling that will stay with you long after you finish the book. As thought provoking as it is satisfying.
Never wanted it to end

I have waited for the next Dan Brown book for so long and this one was magnificent! I hope to read all his novels many times over because each read brings a deeper love not only for his work but for the hidden gems of the world

The story is continually paused while you have to read way too many pages of technical details. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this book.
Very enjoyable.

Thought provoking, fun, intellectually stimulating throughout. This book is a detective novel with a twist on history and understanding of human conciseness. Brown’s writing is always a journey that keeps the reader anticipating the next provoking revelation. True to form, this adventure includes real life locations, background, and history. Unquestionably blended with humanity’s quest to understand our present moment in history. Bravo once again!

Enjoyed the story line and surrounding dialogue
The story line gives us food for thought. To a great extent comfort in our dreams. Certainly possibilities.
A good, yet long, read

Strong characters and good story line. Was long, and got pretty granular and long-winded with the science details, but very informative about brain science.
A Book for our Times

This book reads like consciousness itself! Takes you into what is not only possible but happening now! My own powerful OBE experiences, my own soul guidance and now we can begin to release fear of death to know our immortality continues as we just take another adventure within our consciousness! I love this book!

So the book wasn’t horrible…but it wasn’t great. I found myself struggling to stay engaged in it and it is one that after reading you simply forget other than the time wasted reading it. It was “ok” till the final few chapters at which point the secondary character Katherine made the assertion that being addicted to a screen, device or social media is possibly “ spiritual evolution “ at that point I was done with the book. It’s a shame the author has done so well with the rest of the series this simply was a failure.

Fast pace read

Ponderous page turner

13-10-2025
Probably 200 pages too long, but still a decent page turner . Part action, part travelogue and part pseudo scientific - it is reasonably entertaining if you skip the almost forced scientific sections. Not one of his better books.
As good as The Davinci Code!

Not only was the book enthralling, but the subject matter was intense and enlightening. I’ll never forget what it revealed to me. Awesome book. I recommend it to anyone.
Bloated and Lack of Imagination

10-10-2025
I never thought that I would find a Dan Brown novel tedious. But this one is. Lacking the excitement of puzzle solving in Angels and Demons or the Da Vinci Code, the only thing that save this bloated book from one star was its nifty description of Prague’s geography and history. Other than that, the text only underscores the impossibility that Prof. Langdon is capable of structured thinking. All the out-of-body consciousness drivel from his girlfriend that he characterizes as brilliant. So sorry to have spent 600 pages trying to find a kernel of the old Dan Brown.
Too Much!

Who edited this manuscript? The story was good but WAY TOO WORDY! Probably 200 pages too many.
It is the six star book of the year!

This is Dan Browns finest book yet. I hope we have another book on the way from him soon. It is rare to find a book so well written with a story and characters that captivates its readers from beginning to end.
Boring and monotonous

I promised myself that I was done with Dan Brown after his last book, now I am certain of it. It seems he has no structure whatsoever, simply writing whatever idea pops into his mind as he types. Nothing earth-shattering at the end, if you decide to continue. Skip it…and Brown.
I couldn’t put it down

Decent story line but it’s just not the mystery of symbology I have come to expect from a Dan Brown novel.

One of his best and profoundly peaked my curiosity of consciousness beyond our mortality! Bravo.
A metaphysical slog
MinRay
01-10-2025
This novel is 25% thriller and 75% metaphysical slog, some of it repeated over and over. Like we’re too dumb to get Mr. Browns’s thinking with just one exposure. I made it to the end, and I find myself wondering why.
Far-fetched
Lono2013
01-10-2025
Too over-the-top and far-fetched to be enjoyable. It’s not just the new age “science”, but also the crazy implausible actions of the characters. To top it all off is a final twist that hasn’t been used since 1970’s soap operas.

I also found the constant product placement to be off-putting. Does Brown get free products for all these mentions? Advertising dollars?

On the good side, though, it is a page turning thriller. Although formulaic at this point, the action never lets up, pulling you along at a break-neck speed.
A terrific read!

Too much repetitive information about consciousness. Brown found numerous ways to paraphrase what he explained early on. It’s almost like consciousness was the subject of many chapters, which slowed the plot’s pace.

Fun to revisit Professor Langdon on this somewhat convincing story. It was a much needed break from the even more bizarre events happening in our world today.

but it was so slow, so repetitive, and it just never grabbed me. I never thought I'd skim a Dan Brown book, but that's the only way I got through this one. A very big disappointment. Two stars is being generous.

Secret No More

24-09-2025
This book starts out with a bang and quickly devolves into a snooze fest of repetitive technical information meant to crank up the “mystery” and keep the reader in suspense. It had the opposite effect for this reader. Even the romance felt forced. If it was meant to be a cautionary tale of government brain control it was unsuccessfully bewildering.

Boring read. Painful and never ending level of detail detracts from a plausible scenario and conclusion.

22-09-2025
The Secret of Secrets does what Brown does best: it offers a roller‑coaster read that toys with big ideas, ancient mysteries, believable scientific fringe, and authentic historical flavor. If you enjoy page‑turners that make you pause and think—“What if this were true?”—this one delivers. It may not redefine the genre, but it more than proves that Brown still knows how to make secrets feel weighty and dangerous, and facts feel like fuel for adventure. It’s thought-provoking, addictive, and quintessentially Brown.

This is not one of Dan Brown’s best efforts . Too many pages of technical explanation which will have most readers crossing their eyes! It just moves too slowly and is too technical.
